Saturday, April 11: Contemporary Fusion with Lauren Cheree

Class Description:
Class will explore release technique blended with basic hip hop fundamentals, such as the bounce/rock with footwork and isolations. Emphasis on individual style and groove within the ever expanding contemporary vernacular.
LAUREN CHEREE is a Salt Lake City based freelance dancer and writer. They graduated from Southern Utah University under the mentorship of Nick Blaylock, Alex Bradshaw Yerby and Danielle Lydia Sheather. Post graduation, they lived in Aotearoa, New Zealand, freelancing in Auckland and bumming it out in a van. While there, they trained with Atamira Dance Company under their Contact Care program and various community events. Upon departure, they produced a one person show and volunteered in various locations. Since returning home to SLC, Lauren has completed one season with Samba Fogo as a company dancer and has since started freelancing full time. They have performed works ranging from heels to classical ballet. Besides performing, Lauren maintains a steady presence in the cypher/hip hop culture.

Special Sliding Scale Rate: For those in financial need, a sliding scale is available of $9-14. No questions asked.
Work Study: Work Study is offered for one to two people each season. Work Study is intended for those in financial need who intend to take classes regularly. Please contact Nichele if you are interested!
Logistics: Preregistration is not required. Please arrive early to complete payment and sign liability waivers. Class will start and end right on time! New-to-class dancers, please allow at least 10 minutes to complete paperwork and settle in.
